Gavi Camporosso

The stunning region of Gavi is in the southern part of the Piedmont region of Italy. This hilly area is the spiritual home of the Cortese grape variety. Cooling breezes float in from the Mediterranean Sea, limestone soils provide the perfect growing environment, and the careful work of Stefano Massone in the vineyards combine perfectly to make fresh and elegant wines with a delicate aroma. His estate includes 15 vineyards located in six areas of the Gavi DOCG area. His Gavi Camporosso is made using grapes from 350m above sea level, giving them a naturally low yield and longer hang time for a much more intense flavour than usual. The wines are fermented at unusually low temperatures to retain their fruitiness, and nothing but stainless steel is used in the winemaking.

On the nose this Gavi has notes of blossom, lemon, elderflower and fresh green apple. On the palate it really livens up with clean apricot, lemon sherbet and pear drops.

Food Pairings: The extra freshness in this white makes it perfect for fattier meats like pork belly or any seafood with a lemony sauce.
